The Centre d'étude et de coopération internationale (CECI) in Burkina Faso held a workshop to close the Nouveau Québec Sans frontière (NQSF1) project and launch the Tilgré Hewti Horem digital platform, this Thursday, March 28, 2024 in Ouagadougou.

The project included awareness-raising activities. "One of the difficulties we encountered was access to beneficiaries. We asked ourselves why not go digital to reach our targets". That's how the idea for the platform came about.

"Tilgré - Hewti Horem" is a tool to contribute to the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). "Today, it's a reality. All that remains is to promote this platform so that it is accessible to the targets we're aiming for", confided Carine Kaboré, CECI Burkina's women and humanitarian equality program manager.

According to the initiators, this platform is intended as a space for exchanges, listening, awareness-raising and experience-sharing. "Tilgré" in Mooré or "Hewti Horem" in Fulfulde means fulfillment.

The need for TFP support

The platform has five tabs: Home, Understanding GBV, Referring GBV, Documentation on GBV and Consult testimonials. According to Carine Kaboré, messages and testimonials are covered anonymously. "No one is exposed by using this platform", reassured Ms. Kaboré.
To achieve this, technicians from the Ministry in charge of gender were involved in the creation of this platform. There's also a WhatsApp option to make things easier for users. The capsules are translated into three languages (French, Fulfulde and Mooré).

The initiative is welcomed by the Ministry in charge of women and gender. "The Ministry alone cannot manage cases of gender-based violence. It needs the support of technical and financial partners in the field. The setting up of this platform will enable victims to turn to it for the care they need," asserted Orokia Ouattara of the General Directorate for the Promotion of Women and Gender.

According to Ouattara Sanlé Jean Barthélémy, Country Director of CECI Burkina, this platform is an asset that "we are making available to the population to continue exchanges, awareness-raising and experience-sharing, especially on gender-based violence".

The project to create the platform took 18 months. It is financed by the French Ministry of International Relations and Francophonie (MRIF). The platform was launched in conjunction with the closing of the Nouveau Québec Sans frontière (NQSF1) project.
